Trever Koek, Director, Asset Management, Special Situations

Mr. Koek is Prime Finance’s Director of Asset Management responsible for the ongoing asset management and servicing of Prime Finance’s Special Situations portfolio. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Koek was a Director at NXT Capital, where he was responsible for managing a portfolio of middle market commercial mortgage loans and joint venture equity investments. Earlier in his career, Mr. Koek held various positions in originations, credit analysis, and underwriting at BB&T Real Estate Funding and Merrill Lynch Capital. Mr. Koek holds a B.B.A. in Finance, Investments, and Banking from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a joint J.D./M.B.A from DePaul University’s College of Law & Graduate School of Business.

Scott Posternack, Managing Director, Controller

Scott Posternack

Mr. Posternack is a Managing Director and Head of Fund Reporting and Accounting, responsible for leading Prime Finance’s reporting, treasury, and accounting teams. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Posternack Scott was Senior Vice President Finance and Accounting at the Marcus & Millichap Company, a privately-held real estate operating and development company, where he led the corporate accounting, treasury, and financial planning and analysis team for over 13 years. Earlier, Mr. Posternack spent 10 years with Ernst & Young’s audit practice, and several years in the banking industry with BNP-Paribas and TD Bank. Mr. Posternack graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California and Ontario.

Chris Miers, Managing Director, Head of Investor Relationships

Chris Miers

Mr. Miers is a Managing Director and Head of Investor Relationships, responsible for Prime Finance’s investor relationships and capital raising. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Miers was a Principal at NEPC, a privately held full-service investment consulting firm, where he negotiated and structured investment products and portfolios for a wide range of institutional investors. Prior to NEPC, Mr. Miers provided strategic investment counsel to some of the world’s largest institutional investors as a Principal at Bard Consulting. Earlier, Mr. Miers worked at Babcock & Brown, where he identified and invested in target markets, performed due diligence, originated new and restructured existing investments, and managed partner relationships. Mr. Miers was also in the investment management group at the Shorenstein Company, where he performed fund management services. Prior to that, he was at AMB Property Corporation (now Prologis) working in various roles, including asset and portfolio management, acquisitions, and fundraising. Mr. Miers holds a B.S from Babson College and a J.D. from Golden Gate University. Mr. Miers is a Counselor of Real Estate (CRE), where he is on the Board of Directors, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS). He is also a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) Conference Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the PREA Capital Markets Affinity Group.

Bridget Larson, Managing Director, Human Resources

Bridget Larson

Ms. Larson is a Managing Director, Human Resources. In this role, she is responsible for leading the Human Resources strategy in alignment with the strategic priorities of the firm, including talent management functions and HR operations. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Ms. Larson was a Vice President, People Operations and Mergers and Acquisitions at Revantage, a global corporate services leader serving Blackstone real estate portfolio companies and investments. Ms. Larson has also held Human Resources leadership roles at EyeCare Partners, a private-equity backed healthcare holding company and William Blair, a Chicago-based boutique investment banking firm. Ms. Larson graduated with distinction from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri where she played soccer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Evan Goldszak, Vice President, Special Situations

Mr. Goldszak is a Vice President in Prime Finance’s Special Situations group and is focused on sourcing, underwriting, negotiating, and structuring debt and equity investments across all asset types and geographies. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Goldszak was Vice President at Round Hill Capital in London, where he was responsible for underwriting and asset management of equity investments in the U.K. and Ireland. Mr. Goldszak began his career at Quadrant Real Estate Advisors in Atlanta then moved aboard to spend time in their U.K. and Australia offices, concentrating on sourcing, underwriting, closing, and asset management of balance sheet financings for institutional capital sources across the U.S., Europe, and Australia. Mr. Goldszak holds a B.A. in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®).

Livingston Long, Director, Special Situations

Mr. Long is a Director in Prime Finance’s Special Situations group where he focuses on sourcing, underwriting, negotiating, and structuring debt and equity investments across all asset types and geographies. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Long was a Vice President in Wells Fargo’s Corporate & Investment Bank where he focused primarily on balance sheet and CMBS financings as a member of a large loan originations team. Earlier in his career, Mr. Long was a member of the capital markets group where he advised mortgage REITs and real estate debt funds on a variety of real estate capital markets and securitization transactions. Mr. Long graduated with a B.A. in Economics and B.S. in Human & Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University and holds M.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia.

Stephen Chow, Principal, Capital Markets, Analytics, and Trading

Stephen Chow

Mr. Chow is a Principal, Head of Capital Markets, Analytics, and Trading, and serves on the investment committee for the Long Duration strategies. Mr. Chow is responsible for Prime Finance’s financing and capital markets activity including overseeing the financing of the Fund’s assets, facilitating joint ventures, and structuring participation and senior/subordinate investments. In addition, Mr. Chow sources and evaluates investment opportunities in secondary markets and assists in modeling and risk analytics. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Chow was a Portfolio Manager at UBS, responsible for the trading, surveillance, and risk management of a multi-billion portfolio consisting of cash and synthetic CMBS, CRE CDO, Esoteric ABS, Insurance-Linked, and ABS CDO securities. Prior to his Portfolio Manager position, he held various trading, structuring, banking, and research roles within the Securitized Products Groups at UBS and Credit Suisse. Mr. Chow graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Economics.

Erik Gutman, Principal, Deputy Chief Investment Officer

Erik Gutman

Mr. Gutman is a Principal, the Deputy Chief Investment Officer for the Direct Lending strategy, and a member of the Direct Lending Investment Committee. Mr. Gutman also shares responsibility for Prime Finance’s financing and capital markets activity. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Gutman held various Real Estate Capital Markets and Real Estate Investment Banking roles with Citi, Macquarie ABN AMRO/LaSalle Bank and Fitch Ratings. Mr. Gutman completed the General Course at The London School of Economics and Political Science, graduated with honors from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S.in Finance and has an MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.

Da Cheng Liu, Senior Associate

Mr. Liu, who goes by DC, is an Associate with the Capital Markets team in the New York office. He graduated from Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business, earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in Hotel Administration, a minor in Real Estate, and concentration in Investment Banking. Prior to graduation, DC interned at Verizon’s headquarters where he worked on their $26 billion real estate portfolio transactions and real estate asset downsizing strategic planning initiative. Prior to joining Prime Finance, DC was a Real Estate Portfolio Management Analyst at Verizon.

John Atwater, Co-Founder, Managing Partner, and Oversees Capital Formation

John Atwater

Mr. Atwater is a Co-Founding Partner of Prime Finance and a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Atwater founded Prime Group in 1989 and is Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Prime Group. Mr. Atwater has been involved with all forms of property ownership, management, and financing. A graduate of Brown University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, he has served on a variety of for-profit and non-profit boards, including Montgomery Street Income Securities, Lone Mountain School for Children, The Hamlin School, The California Academy of Sciences (Board Chair 2010-2014), the Corporation of Brown University and the Policy Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics, UC Berkeley.

Jon Brayshaw, Co-Founder and Oversees Capital Markets and Legal

Mr. Brayshaw is a Co-Founding Partner of Prime Finance and a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Brayshaw leads the New York office where he oversees Capital Markets and Legal Strategy for the entire platform and focuses on New Business Development. Prior to forming Prime Finance, Mr. Brayshaw was a Managing Director at Natixis, where he was involved in negotiating, structuring, and closing commercial real estate loan transactions. Prior to Natixis, Mr. Brayshaw practiced law in New York at Kaye Scholer LLP. Mr. Brayshaw is a graduate of Bates College and the Fordham University School of Law.

Scott Douglass, Co-Founder, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Oversees Long Duration and Special Situations

Mr. Douglass is a Co-Founding Partner of Prime Finance, Co-Chief Investment Officer, and a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Douglass leads the San Francisco office, oversees the Long Duration and Special Situations strategies. Prior to forming Prime Finance, Mr. Douglass was a Managing Director for Natixis, responsible for the pricing, structuring, and execution of all commercial real estate loans intended for securitization. Mr. Douglass started his career at Nomura Securities as part of the CMBS group, after graduating with Honors from Brown University with a B.A. degree in Business Economics and Organizational Behavior and Management.

Josh Frieman, Principal and Chief Administrative Officer

Josh Frieman

Mr. Frieman is a Principal and Chief Administrative Officer of Prime Group where he leads the accounting, investor relations, risk management, information technology, and administrative teams for both Prime Residential and Prime Finance. Mr. Frieman joined Prime Group in 2005 and has been involved in all facets of real estate investment, finance, administration, and leadership. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Frieman was an advisor to distressed businesses, overseeing numerous restructurings and liquidations. Earlier in his career, Mr. Frieman was at Latham & Watkins where he practiced corporate law then served as the General Counsel for a start-up technology company. Mr. Frieman graduated with honors from University of California at Berkeley and Harvard Law School.

Dan Leonard, Senior Controller

Dan Leonard

Mr. Leonard is the Senior Controller for Prime Finance and Prime Group. He oversees ownership accounting, tax, and treasury functions for over $3.5 billion of assets. Prior to joining Prime Group in 2004 as Senior Controller, Dan was in charge of the U.S. accounting for Kumagi Gumi and Kabuto International, two large Japanese development companies. Spending approximately 10 years with each company, his experience includes the acquisition, finance, development, management, construction, operation, and sale of real estate. Dan is a graduate of the University of San Diego.

Steven Sutton, Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer

Steven Sutton

Mr. Sutton is a Managing Director and Prime Group’s Chief Compliance Officer. He is responsible for providing compliance and legal support to various Prime Group teams. Prior to joining Prime Group, Mr. Sutton practiced corporate law at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP where he counseled private equity sponsors in fund formation and SEC registration and compliance matters. Mr. Sutton graduated from UCLA with honors and the UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and is a member of the State Bar of California.

Alexandra Walter, Director of Tax

Ms. Walter leads Prime Group’s tax function, having served and advised privately held businesses and their stakeholders for over ten years. Prior to joining Prime, Ms. Walter was most recently with a Private Investment Company and Family Office. She began her career in Public Accounting. Ms. Walter graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Dartmouth College. She is a Certified Public Accountant in California.

Christopher Takata, Controller

Mr. Takata is a Controller for Prime Finance. Prior to joining Prime Finance in 2012, Chris worked as an Accounting Analyst for a small business in San Diego where he maintained the company’s books. Chris holds a B.S. in Management Science and a Professional Accounting Certificate from the University of California, San Diego.

Steve Gerstung, Co-Chief Investment Officer, and Oversees Short Duration Asset Management

Mr. Gerstung is a Co-Founding Partner of Prime Finance, Co-Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Gerstung leads the Chicago office and oversees the Short Duration Asset Management. Prior to forming Prime Finance, Mr. Gerstung was a Managing Director and the Head of Distribution for Natixis, where he was responsible for the structuring and sale of subordinate debt. Mr. Gerstung started his career at Nomura Securities after graduating cum laude from Harvard University with a B.A. in Economics.

Dan James, Co-Founder and Senior Advisor, Multifamily Investment Strategy

Dan James

Mr. James joined Prime Group in 1992 and is a Co-Founding Partner of Prime Finance, where he serves on the investment committees of each of Prime Finance’s previous funds. During his tenure, Mr. James has been involved with all forms of property ownership, management, financing, and development and will be a Special Advisor to the Fund helping to shape its multifamily investment strategy. A graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Business School, Mr. James also attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He serves on the California Apartment Association Leadership Council and is the past chairman of the California Housing Council.

Seth Fisher, Principal, Special Situations

Seth Fisher

Mr. Fisher is a Principal and Head of Special Situations and a member of the Special Situations Investment Committee. Prior to joining Prime Finance, Mr. Fisher was the Chief Investment Officer of Equity Investments for Starwood Property Trust’s REIS segment (“Starwood”), where he led a business focused on middle market investment opportunities arising from Starwood’s commercial mortgage backed securities (“CMBS”) exposure and other CRE related special situations. Executing and managing dozens of investments through nonperforming loan acquisitions and direct equity investments in underperforming real estate, Mr. Fisher oversaw all aspects of the acquisition, investment and asset management processes. He was also responsible for the business’ joint venture partnerships and capital markets activities. Prior to this role at Starwood, Mr. Fisher held various positions across predecessor business lines at LNR Property, including roles in credit investment activities, note sales and loan workouts. Mr. Fisher graduated with a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
